Rebekah's Birthday

What a week it has been, and there is much more left of the weekend! Wednesday Rebekah had a good birthday. That morning I spent much of my time tending to Joshua because he was being so demanding, but once he went down for a nap I got to focus the afternoon on Rebekah. We made cupcakes for her preschool party that was on Thursday. Darrin took off work early, and we gave Rebekah her big gift from us (and Grandy) - a Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane. Rebekah really thought it was cool when she saw it, but when it came to driving it she wasn't too sure. These little vehicles do no accelerate nor deccelerate. They go and stop. So, when you push the gas it suddenly goes and when you release of the gas pedal it suddenly stops, making the ride rather jerky. I'm sure the ride feels much like a young 15-year-old with a driver's permit learning to drive a car for the first time. Rebekah didn't want to drive her Jeep much. We invited Rebekah's neighbor friend Emmy to come over and play with Rebekah in the Jeep, and that seemed to help. Emmy drove it more than Rebekah did, but both girls did drive. When Rebekah wanted to get out and stop, but Emmy wanted to drive some more, Rebekah didn't want to be left out, so she ended up riding more than she had anticipated. We are hoping that the more she can play with it with her friends the more Rebekah will feel comfortable with it.

Joshua rode in it for a little while, but since Rebekah didn't want to drive much he didn't ride much either. I never did get a pic since the ride was so short-lived.

After supper Rebekah opened the rest of the family gifts she had received. Here Joshua helps her open his gift to her - Bella Dancerella at-home dance studio.



Rebekah got a playdough kit, flashcards, Color Wonder book and markers, and Hi Ho Cherry-O from Uncle Derek and Aunt Robin.


From Aunt Donise, Uncle Mark, Kate, and Ben Rebekah received some cute princess house slippers, a purse, a video, and princess Uno cards.
