Yesterday we continued our Easter unit with The parable of the Lily. The character Maggie's father is a farmer, so we did the activities all about farmers and farming. We discussed the different kinds of farmers there are and what they do on the farm. While Rebekah cut out different animals that live on the farm for her farm book we sang some songs about them. We sang "Farm Sounds" (part of the unit study on Homeschool Share's website), "Old MacDonald", and "We're on our Way to Grandpa's Farm". I also quizzed Rebekah asking her if a specific animal would be found on the farm or at the zoo. Ironically enough, Rebekah has a field trip to the zoo next week!
We then acted out Rebekah's favorite farm animal, a pig! Rebekah seemed to enjoy this a lot! We read three books to go along with our farm lesson: The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss, Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm by Joy Cowley, and Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown.
Rebekah finished her lesson by playing with her Little People farm set and coloring some pages after doing her lapbook activiities.
