Wow! I'm really behind on the blogging this week! This past weekend we went to Columbia, TN to visit Darrin's family. We had a nice time relaxing and enjoying family. A couple days before we left on Friday Rebekah kept asking if we were going to Grandy's house. She was so excited! Rebekah enjoyed spending time with her Grandy so much that when we returned home on Sunday she wanted to go back. It was neat to see the two of them enjoy each other so much.
Joshua warmed up to his Grandy fairly quickly also, but he still had his moments when he only wanted me.
Soon after we arrived on Friday afternoon Darrin pulled out some of his John Deere tractors, MatchBox cars, and Hot Wheels he played with as a child. Both the kids really enjoyed these "new" toys. I have really been impressed with how Joshua plays with these toys and doesn't mouth them. He has been playing with the few Hot Wheels we have at home for a while now. He drives them around on the floor and never puts them in his mouth. They are for ages 3+, but he is really good with them.
Here are some pics from Friday evening.
How often do you get both kids to look at the camera and smile?
Saturday Ann (MIL) and I went shopping for the kids. She wanted to get them some clothes. Then when we returned Joshua had struggled going down for a nap. I had hoped to put him down for a nap, then we would take Rebekah to Derek and Robin's farm to see the horses, but Joshua wouldn't go to sleep. We decided to take him, too, and don't you know, once we got to the farm only five minutes from Ann's house we found Joshua konked out in his car seat.
Derek and Robin have four horses now. Two are geldings and two are mares. They plan to breed one of the mares, and Derek is going to get into cutting and roping with the horses. The horses are really pretty! I don't know much about horses, but I've learned a little bit just from talking with and listening to Derek and Robin talk about what all they are doing.
Derek tends to one of the horses.
Rebekah's rather unsure about these large animals.
Joshua was still asleep when we left the farm, so Darrin took Joshua for a drive while Ann and I took Rebekah outside to play with bubbles.
Joshua was happy after a nap.
Notice the car in Joshua's hand.
Saturday evening Derek and Robin joined us for supper. After we ate everyone was sitting in the living room relaxing. Joshua started crawling under Derek's legs and just rammed right through them. It got everyone laughing. They called Joshua a full-back for the way he plowed right through Derek's legs. There was nothing stopping this little guy!
Sunday morning we headed back home. Overall, we had a really nice weekend away with Darrin's family, and it was nice to get away from home for a few days.
